What is the price of the wedding cake?
The price of the wedding cake depends on the flavor and design chosen, but our starting price is $3 per person for vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and basic buttercream decorations.
Can you replicate a wedding cake if I bring in a picture?
We can replicate most cakes with the understanding that there may be some very subtle differences. We truly have to see the wedding cake picture before we give a decision one way or another.
Do you deliver the cake and when? Is there an additional charge?
We will deliver the wedding cake 1-2 hours prior to the wedding. If a florist is placing fresh flowers on the cake we will coordinate with the florist to see what time s/he needs us to have the cake there. The additional charge for delivery depends on distance. There is a minimum of $20 for the wedding cake delivery.
Does Sweet Jazmines provide flowers if we are using fresh flowers?
Sweet Jazmines will be happy to place the flowers on the cake. If we garnish the cake with fresh flowers it is the client‘s responsibility to order the flowers and have them in Sweet Jazmines’ possession the day before or morning of the wedding.
Should we get enough cake to feed all of our guests or only a percentage?
We recommend getting enough cake to feed all of your guests, unless you are having a dessert table and it is buffet-style, where the cake is placed on the table with the other desserts for your guests to choose from. Some people may say that they don’t eat desserts, but just have them hear someone talking about the yummy cake and you’ll have their attention. You don’t want to run out of cake.
What is a service cake?
A service cake is the same cake as your wedding cake, it is just never seen by the guests and is simply taken directly to the kitchen, while the wedding cake is placed on display. This allows for two things: your caterer is able to plate some of the cake before the wedding cake is even cut and in some cases it can lower the price of the wedding cake.
What wedding cake flavor and design do most people choose?
Remember, this is your wedding and it is the one time you can make it about you and people will understand. Having said that, there is no right or wrong answer in choosing your wedding flavor cake and design. There are some flavors that we would not blend together and we would explain why. We are here to guide you, but you have to make the final decision.
What is a cake tier and cake layer?
Many people get confused about a tier and a layer. One tier of the wedding cake is made up of at least three layers (two layers of cake and one layer of buttercream.) For example, you may want a four tier cake to feed 150 people and each of those tiers can have the same or different layers of flavors – cake
and fillings.
Does the wedding cake have to be all one flavor?
No, each tier of the cake can be a different flavor. We recommend 3 different flavors or less because the more flavors you get the less each tier will serve. We do not want to cause a riot when only the smallest tier of the cake is chocolate mousse with ganache and only a few guests receive that flavor.
Do you use a frosting or a buttercream?
Sweet Jazmines uses an Italian vanilla buttercream. Buttercream is richer than a frosting, but not as sweet. We use 100% butter, no shortening in our buttercream. The easiest way to tell the difference between frosting and buttercream is that frosting gets harder, crunchier when left out at room temperature and buttercream gets softer. Wedding cakes are meant to be eaten at room temperature but because of the nature of our cakes and the all natural ingredients used, cakes need to be refrigerated, but brought back to room temperature just before serving.
